Fishing Story:
We were camping at double island point, myself running around as a young fella in not much more then DT’s and a Rashy. Dad gave me a yell, “come here son, I want you to hold onto this for a second.” He handed me what looked like a long stick with handle down the bottom. I had no idea what it was called, nor do I remember why I actually thought it was going to be fun but the moment I did, I knew it was going to be fun. There was something as small as a juvenile sand whiting or something along those lines hooked and running on the other end of the line. It was then that I knew I liked this doing what ever this is called – “fishing” said Dad, you’ve just caught your first fish. From that point on, everything changed. I wanted more, bigger, different, faster, stronger fish. Growing up I continued to chase esaury fish around my local fishery (Jacobs Well, JumPin Pin and the Stradbroke Island group). My fishing adventures have since changed after moving north to Townsville. A relatively late bloomer in terms of lure fishing meant I had to make up for lost time having the chance to chase everybody’s dream estuary fish Barramundi, the opportunity to head wide and wrestle monster GT and then have the ability to truly master the craft of finesse fishing for beautiful fish like Jungle Perch and Sooty Grunter has opened my eyes tenfold to the sport of lure fishing. I have learnt so much since making my first session here in 2014, yet continue to learn the ways of fish, their lifestyles, their habitats, their patterns and love every minute chasing fish, no matter the technique.
