"WoW!!! What an awesome weekend up at Lismore for the Richmond River Bass Nation event. Absolutely stoked to come away with the win. These rivers are a whole new ball game and I love it, can't wait to get back there, hone in and try some new techniques and explore more water.
Practice was pretty good for me. I found an area that I thought I could catch a decent limit and just hope for a big bite when the tide was up. Never thought I had the winning fish, so to be leading after the 1st session was very cool.
Day 2 I made the 1 hour run at full noise back to the same area and started the grind. With only 1 small fish at 10 o'clock, I found a drain that was VERY overgrown. I knew no one would of been in there, looked at my co-angler Garry Harman and said "you keen?" he just smiled.
After a 10 minute struggle we found ourselves in a drain and on the opposite side of the road then Bang!!! I'm on and boated my 2nd fish a nice 900gm fish (video of the exit coming) turns out that fish pretty much won me the comp. It pays to push the limits. Shout out to Harmo couldn't of done it with out ya.
Both relaxed with full limits we moved on and I upgraded my small fish with the biggest fish I had caught over the 4 days and anchored the win from good mate Tom Slater. I used a Millerods blademaster and curado all weekend and threw a Fish J spin 10grm White bassman jig head and a J shad 3 inch plastic Saltwater series in colour 109 Glow / Silver.
Huge thanks to my sponsors with out you guys it's not possible.
